The Three Gorges Reservoir will bring about broad and profound impacts on ecosystems and the environment But viewing the general conclusions as a whole, the environment of the Three Gorges reservoir is in keeping with the demands of sustainability Based on the principles of the sustainable development,some indexes that can be used to evaluate the environmental sustainability of the reservoir are established and analyzed to, and assess briefly the envionmental sustainability of the reservoir The research result indicated that,of the ecological and environmental factors to be affected by the construction of the reservoir,the resettlement is a relatively sensitive and restrictive one,to which adequate attention must be paid
