| Abstract: | In this essay, the author proposes two different levels in the aesthetic ideas of Confucius: aesthetics of poetry and aesthetics of music. The former derives from "rites" and serves the society, whereas the aesthetics of music is rooted in "benevolence" and centers itself on one's life, so that the aesthetics of music is superior to the aesthetics of poetry. |
