| Abstract: | The author of this article gives an account of a new method for calculating friction losses for noncircular cross section ducts by means of a correction factor without using the circular equivalent of a rectangular duct for equal friction and capacity. This new method is based on the principles of fluid mechanics. The correction factor method can be used to calculate friction losses for all sorts of noncircular cross section ducts besides rectangular ducts. This new method is clear in concept, strict in deductive inference, simple in use, and accurate in calculation results. |
