摘    要:上世纪四、五十年代,抽象表现主义在美国兴起。这一代表了美国"本土文化"的艺术流派,受到当时美国艺术理论界两个主要传统:形式主义和图像学研究,截然不同的对待。格林伯格等艺术评论家创造了大量理论话语为其辩护,高度赞扬波洛克等人艺术创作中的"现代性";潘诺夫斯基则将其排除在研究视野之外。形式主义和图像学研究间的分歧形成了艺术理论间的张力。

Abstract:Abstract -expressionism was an significant genre at the 1940s in the United State. This genre,as a representation of American Culture, had been treated very differently by two major theoretical traditions, the formal- ism and the iconology. Clement Greenberg, along with other Formalism critics, created plenty systematic terms to advocate the abstract - expressionism, he also high praised the modernity in abstract - expressionism art. However, Erwin Panofsky viewed this genre as an exception to his iconology. The conflict between formalism and iconology de- veloped series theoretical tensions.
