Plato's Idea about the Ethic Value of Music

Plato combined the purifying function of music and his notion of "goodness" as well as his political ideal to build an "ideal state".He believed that good music could reshape people's souls and cultivate virtues such as reason,passion,self-control and righteousness,thus having ethic value.This idea of his is still of positive significance nowadays.
