By analysing the tobacco cut rag density and the detecting data and its distribution, a conclusion is drawn that rag density and its distribution is an integrated criterion which can be used to evaluate cigarette quality, tobacco cost and the technical level of primary line, and it can also be used to judge if the bisecting guage of cigarette making machine run normally. According to these principle, if the rag density is different, spliting disk can be adjusted by using different type drop center, and if the rag with nearly same filling value is used by different making machine,the optimum parameter such as cigarette weight, etc should be chosen so as to guarantee high quality of cigarette and reduce tobacco cost.
