| 摘 要： | This paper talks about the paper written by Chiaki Yamaguchi.Quirk's categorization of the varieties of English which is quoted by the author is sound and reasonable,while the author's ideas about the common standard and the common core are debatable.A prestigious standard is more practical and clearer than the common core,although the author's argumentation for the common core is plausible.
