| 摘 要： | 成长小说的特点就是主人公的社会认知和自我认知。二者可以是独立的,也可以是共存的。本文通过对两部著名成长小说——《安琪拉的灰烬》和《一个青年艺术家的画像》的分析,讨论两位青少年主人公成长中的认知发展过程。这两部无论从创作年代、背景还是从写作手法等方面都不尽相同的小说却不约而同地表现了同一个主题——家庭责任与宗教信仰的严重缺失,成为妨碍两个主人公成长发展的束缚。而两位主人公最终都通过自己的努力挣脱了这些束缚,从而实现了从社会认知到自我认知的飞跃。

| Abstract: | A successful initiation story tends to demonstrate the young hero＇s growing experience with his social cognition or self cognition, or even both of them. In this essay, both Angela＇s Ashes and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man will be comparatively analyzed to discuss the cognitive development in the growing experienee of the two young heroes--Frank and Stephen. |
