| Abstract: | The five-parameter failure criterion of Willam and Warnke is analyzed. Based on the results. an improved five-parameter failure criterion for concrete is presented. This new criterion has the advantages of W-W criterion, while avoiding its disadvantages. The expression of the deviatoric section is greatly simplified. The parameters in this criterion are easy to be determined and good agreement exists between this criterion and experimental results. Therefore, it is a good failure criterion to be used in finite element analysis of reinforced concrete. |
