| Abstract: | The preparation of a number of complexes of LnCl_3(where Ln=La,Pr,Nd,Sm and Eu) with dimethyl sulfoxide and 1,10-phenanthroline is reported. The composition of the complexes is characterized by elemental analysis,IR and TG-DTA. The exitation and emission, as well as the fluorescent intensity are measured on dried and finely powered sampies at room temperature. The bright brown-red fluorescent lines of complex Eu(DMSO)(Phen)_2Cl_3 at about 600 nm are assigned to the transition from ~5D_i levels to all multiple levels of ~7F_i. |
