诗人何为？——论柏拉图诗学观中的矛盾与中和之道

What Is the Function of a Poet？ On Contradictions between Plato＇s Poetic Perspectives and the Way for Compromise

Plato examined poets and the status of their poetry writing in dialogues Ion and Republic. He made severe criticisms of poets according to his principle of moralism and thought poetry should be driven out of city states in order to ensue a correct understanding of what is seen and heard. At the same time, he recognized the psychic ability of poetry and the magic of poetic language, and hoped that poetry could be involved in the field of philosophy in some way so that it could play a role in construction of city states. The contradictions between Plato＇s poetic thoughts are the ones between his political ideals and his nature to be a poet, while the conception and practice for ＂unity of art and truth＂ reflect the profundity that Plato is regarded as the pioneer of the ideal of poetic philosophy.
