| 摘 要： | 在英国文学发展史中，出现了许多中国题材的游记；这些游记作品对英国文学的发展产生了很大的影响，同时也为当代形象学研究提供了丰富的文本资源。巴罗对中国的新的印象反映了19世纪初英国的崛起，并为基督新教传入中国铺平了道路；另一方面，它表明了英国人的精神和心理构成状况，以及他们集体的偏见，并加速了中国神话在英国甚至整个欧洲的消失。

| Abstract: | In the history of British literature, there appeared a number of travel literature on China, which exerted a great influence on the evolution of British literature, and provided rich textual sources for contemporary imagology. Barrow＇s new image of China reflected the rise of Great Britain in the beginning of 19th century and paved a way for the coming Protestant missions in China; on the other hand, it showed the mental and psychological makeup of British and their collective biases, and accelerated the vanishment of Chinese myth in England and even throughout Europe. |
