彗星作为太阳系的一种特殊天体,当前已经发现1700多颗。中国是世界上最早观测彗星的国家之一,彗星记录可追溯到殷商时代的甲骨文卜辞,同时中国也保存了世界上最系统的古代彗星观测记录,对彗星按照结构和特点进行了细致的命名和分类,对现代天文学仍然有着一定的参考价值。
