The Evolvement of the Character from an Epic Hero to a Modern anti-Hero: The Differences between the Images of Odysseus and Bloom

Ulysses,the magnum opus of the Irish writer James Joyce,which is one of the most significant works in the European and American novelistic history of the 20th century.The characters and story structure of Ulysses is based on the work of ancient Greece Odyssey＇s.Starting from the dimension of the creation of literature images,this paper analyses that Ulysses demonstrate the evolvement of the character from an epic hero to a modern anti-hero by shaping the image of Bloom.On the other hand,this paper reaches the underlying causes of how to form the modern anti-hero Bloom.
