中西方数字文化内涵比较

数字不仅是表示数量的词语,它也承载者丰富而玄妙的文化内涵,在中西文化中占有重要地位。但在社会历史的发展过程中,数字在中西文化中产生了相似或相异的象征和联想意义。为此,选取几个具有代表性的数字(1,3,7,9),归纳其在中西文化中的丰富涵义,并从跨文化的角度,从神话迷信、宗教信仰、哲学思想、地域环境及社会发展等方面,探讨这种语言现象产生的根源,以期对中西文化研究、语言学习及中英数字习语的翻译有所助益。

Comparative analysis of cultural connotation of Chinese and Western figures

As an important element in both Chinese and Western cultures,figure—a part of language system—not only represents numbers but also expresses rich and mysterious cultural connotation.However,with the history and social development in China and the West,similar or different associative meanings are attached to the same figure.The author employs comparative analysis to learn and study the rich cultural connotation of the chosen figures(1,3,7,9) in Chinese and Western cultures,as well as the origin that causes the similarities and differences from the aspects of myths and superstition,religious belief,philosophy,geography and social changes,in order to benefit the English language learning,intercultural study and the figure-related idiom translation.
