Analysis of Arthur Dimmesdale in Personality Perspective

Based on Freud's theory of the personality structure which includes three parts,i.e.,id,ego and superego,the paper attempts from a unique view to analyze and present the psychology development of Arthur Dimmesdale,one of the heroes in Nathaniel Hawthorne's well-known novel,The Scarlet Letter.It shows that the development of Dimmesdale's psychology is that of a series of conflicts and coordination of the three parts of the personality structure and the death of the vicar results from the imbalance of his personality development.
