Abstract:The critical minerals are the hotspot resource in the international mining market. Because of its special attribute and political and economic status, it has become a strategic mineral that affects the development of a country. The importance of critical minerals has been fully demonstrated in the context of SINO-US international trade and the global COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. Because each country has different critical mineral resources, the process of potential assessment is also different. Every country has its own unique theory and method of mineral resource potential evaluation. The results of this work reveal that the connotation of critical mineral resources in the era of information is determined by human cognitive consciousness. It also points out the expansion points of the potential evaluation of critical mineral resources from resource security guarantee system, mineral technology innovation platform, traditional mines and urban mines. China should actively promote the application of in-depth learning algorithms to the potential evaluation of mineral resources, in order to enrich and develop the potential evaluation methods of critical mineral resources.
