| Abstract: | The paper explores the combined usage with other figures of speech or artistic means, for example, simile and personifica- tion, simile and allusion, simile and Xing, ete, which produces multiple aesthetic effects. It also discusses the function of simile in ancient Japanese poems from three aspects： describing things, expressing feelings and interpreting images. |
