ON THE PROBLEMS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL GEOGRAPHY IN DEVELOPMENT

Environmental geography is a frontier discipline, a combination of environmental science and geographical science. It mainly studies changes of structure and function of geographital environment, caused by disruption of human acticity,environmental behavious and effect of pollutants, comprehensive assessment of environmental quality and forecasting ofits development trend, and management measure. Man-earth relationship is a main point to be considered, in discussion ofenvironmental problems and establishment of environmental geographical systems. In present, dealing with environmentalpollution and ecological effect in particular, environmental geographical research should include the following main as-pects:1. process of transfer of mass between man and environment and its coordinate relation.2. changes of structure and function of georaphical environment, caused by disruption of human activity.. adaptability of human to circumstances and its response character.4. relationship of population, resourc, ecponomic and stability of environmental spstems.5. main control factors of changes of environmental quality and its management measure.In addition, the present status of environmental geographical study and its development trend of china is appraised.
