Summary The relative contributions of electro-osmosis and iontophoresis to the electrophoretic release of noradrenaline from micropipettes were examined. Electro-osmosis was responsible for 23.1% (±5.0%) of the total rate of release.This work was supported by the Wellcome Trust. We are grateful to Dr M.N. Jones for his help.
