Abstract:The Newton optimal power flow approach converges very fast with the equality con- strained problem, but has no accompanying effective means for handling inequality constraints. Special linear programming technique can be used to efficiently identify the binding inequalities. A reactive optimal power flow algorithm based on the above mentioned principle is presented. Numerical test results show that the algorithm is very effective.
