| Abstract: | An isothermal equation of state for solids is derived by starting from the theory of interionic potential and the standard definition of the short-range force constant. A critical analysis on applicability and effectiveness of the two-parameter equations of state: Born-Mie EOS, Born-Mayer EOS, Vinet EOS, and the one derived here, is presented by investigating the pressure-volume data for several typical crystals. |
