Abstract:Recent West Nile virus epidemics in USA drawworldwide concerns. Here the basic biological and epidemi-ological features of the virus are analyzed along with thespecial immunity of humans and animals, the immigration ofbirds and the natural environments in China. The risk ofsevere hazards to China caused by West Nile virus is assessednot high thereafter.
