Interpretation of The Archetype of "Devil Lover" in A Rose for Miss Emily

As one of the twentieth century classics,Faulkner's A Rose for Emily has been discussed by literary critics from different perspectives.But the text is rich enough for the readers to reinterpret it from new approaches.This paper discusses the"Devil Lover"archetype in the text and explores the reasons of Emily's oddity and cruelty for her lover.The paper intends to show the humanistic concern for the upper-class women's miserable fate of the degenerated noble Class in the South of U.S.A
