Abstract:	Summary Direct evidence is provided for the transmembrane permeation of xanthomegnin across phospholipid bilayer mebranes using ascorbate-loaded liposomes. This process may be associated with an uncoupling effect on the oxidative phosphorylation of mitochondria.
