英汉语言中有关动物词语意义的对等性研究

英汉语言中有大量关于动物的习俗语、成语和谚语，这些语言背后蕴藏着深厚的文化积淀，反映了不同民族对动物相同或不同的情感态度。因而这些词语在表达语言意义时，呈现出不同程度的语言意义对等性。两种语言中，有些词语在表达同一语义时，使用完全相同的动物名称；而有些词语在表达语义时，则使用不同的动物名称；还有些词语在表达语义时，在一种语言里借助动物名称。而在另一种语言里则根本不用动物名称。揭示两种语言中利用动物词语表达语言意义的对等性差异，可以促进语言学习、翻译和跨文化交际，避免语言交际中的误解。

Semantic Equivalence of the Expressions Referring to Animals in E-C Languages

Both English and Chinese have many such expressions,idioms,and sayings that refer to animals.Certain animals are often associated with certain qualities in English and Chinese cultures.Some animals have similar associations in both cultures,but some others have rather different associations.So some expressions referring to animals bear identical meanings in either language while others do not.Put it in another way,the same meaning can be expressed either by the same animal or by different animal in different languages,even without the counterpart of animal name in the expression in the other language.This poses the issue of semantic equivalence in the expressions referring to animals.The paper is expected to discover the features of semantic equivalence of these expressions in English and Chinese so as to facilitate language learning and cross-cultural communication.
