| Abstract: | The errors in translation from English to Chinese are generally made for the wrong choosing of word meaning. This paper reveals the cognitive context first and its functions in the text understanding. Cognitive context has a great influence on the choosing of word meaning in translation. Therefore, it serves as a basis for the translator to determine the word meaning. |
