Lossless Image Hierarchical Transmission Based on Vavelet Transform

Presented in this paper is a lossless image trasmission system based on wavelet transform and Universal Variable Length Coding(UVLC). The key idea is that the lower resolution image is stored on faster and smaller capacity media, while the higher resolution one is stored on slower but larger capacity media. They can be used to reconstruct the original image if needed, and the whole process is lossless. This coding scheme can be widely used in remote image database browsing and image transmission on networks.
