| Abstract: | The stiffness equation of compression member with shear deformation is established in this paper. It is demonstrated that the stiffness equations of compression member with no shear deformation, non-compression member with shear deformation and non-compression member with no shear deformation are all special cases of the equation presented in this paper. By applying the stiffness equation of this paper to some actual problems, the effects of shear deformation of members on buckling loads and deformation of structures are illustrated. |
