| Abstract: | This paper reports the graft copolymerization of acrylamide onto cotton fiber initiated with ceric salt. It is found that acrylamide can easily graft copolymerize onto cotton fiber treated with acid. The influences of reaction temperature, reaction time, concentration of monomer, quantity of initiator, and procedures of adding reagents on graft copolymerization have been investigated. The result of IR test showed that the product had desired structure. The graft copolymerization mechanism is proposed. |
