胡适是近代著名的大学者,他的人生道路和学术生涯深受父母的影响.他是一个孝子,一生保持着对父亲的怀念,为博取母亲的欢心而牺牲婚姻,但他不要子女孝顺自己,甚至反对传统的孝观念,提出关于孝的新见解.通过分析史料,可见胡适的孝的心路历程以及他对孝的批判和反思,以此足见这位大学者不遗余力改造传统孝观念的苦心.

Hu Shi and Filial Piety

Hu Shi was a famous scholar in modern times, and his life and academic career were greatly affected by his parents. He was a filial son, and he cherished the memory of his father all his lifetime. He accepted the arranged engagement in order to return his mother＇s kindness, but he did not urge his own children to be dutiful to him. He opposed the traditional filial piety and expressed new ideas a- bout it. This paper searched and analysed the related literature and found that Hu Shi＇s mind experi- ence, his criticism and reflections with respect to filial piety could be obviously seen, indicating that the well--known scholar had been making every effort to reform the traditional concept of filial piety.
