摘    要:长期以来,中国的英语教学还停留在只教会学生生成一些合乎语法规范的句子的目标上;忽视了语言教学的根本目标,即参与另一种文化里的社会、文化活动的目标。因此,我们应通过科学的英语教学方法和途径,克服障碍,加强交际能力的培养,以实现跨文化交际的目标。

Abstract:ELT in China has long been rested on the objectives to enable the learners to make some grammatical English sentences, while the basic task for language teaching, i.e., the competence to participate in the social and cultural activities in the target culture, has been neglected. Therefore, language instructors should enforce their teaching methodology and approaches as to overcome the language barriers and to focus their instruction on communicative competence and to realize the objective of cross-culture communication.
