近代西方教会在华慈善事业述论

近代以来,西方各国为了在中国传播基督宗教,先后在各地举办教会医疗、育耍、赈济等多项慈善事业,并获得了较大发展.最初的教会慈善机构一般都为便利传教而设,因此带有浓厚的宗教与殖民色彩;进入民国以后,随着基督教在华的生根,教会慈善事业的宗教色彩逐渐淡化而趋向世俗化.客观而论,其对近代中国社会也有较明显的积极影响.

Western Christianity Missionary Charity in Modern China

From the late Qing Dynasty, western countries sent many Christianity missioners to China and conducted some chaffties, such as medical relief, orphanage and disaster relief, which made great progress. At first, as those charitable actions were for helping to mission, missionary charity had strong religious character and colonialism. With the deep development of Christian- ity in the Republic of China, the religious character of missionary charity desalinated slowly and became worldly. Objectively, missionary charity had played an active effect on the society in modem China.
