| 摘 要： | 语言是文化的载体,而成语则是语言的精华,是文化长期积淀而形成的化石。具有深厚的文化价值。本文试从其反映英语民族的历史进程、宗教信仰、文学艺术作品、生活习俗、地理环境、肢体语言等六方面来探讨其文化价值。它为研究英语民族的文化传统和人文历史特点提供了宝贵的材料。

On the Cultural Value of English Idioms |

| Abstract: | Language is the carrier of culture while idioms are the essence of language and the fossils of the cultural accumulation during the long history. Therefore, idioms have profound cultural value. This paper discusses the cultural value of idioms from six aspects, that is, idioms are reflections of historical process, religious beliefs, literature works, living customs, geographic environment, and body language. Idioms are the precious materials for the study of cultural traditions and the characteristics of human history of English people. |
