“学院”与“大学”定名辨析

大学和学院都是高等教育机构。现代“大学”的基本特征是：(1)学科、专业设置是综合性的；(2)基建(房屋)规模大；(3)基础设施(教学、科学研究设备)齐全；(4)教授和学生数量多。“学院”的基本特征是：(1)学科、专业设置是专科性质的，仅仅局限于某个学科，或某几个相近的专业领域；(2)基建规模较小；(3)基础设施较少。目前，我国某些高等院校的更名陷入误区，混淆了“大学”与“学院”的区别。

Differentiation and Analysis of the Names of Both Colleges and Universities

Both a university and a college are all higher education mechanism. A modern university is characterized by that (1) setting up of subjects and specialties is universal,(2)the scale of buildings is large, (3) the infrastructure, for example, the equipments of teaching and science research, is complete and complex, and (4) the population of the professors and students is large. A college is characterized by that (1) setting up of subjects and specialties is only limited to the some special subjects and specialties and not universal, (2)the scale of buildings is smaller,(3) the infrastructure, for example, the equipments of teaching and science research, is not so complete and complex as that of a university, and (4) the population of the professors and students is not so large as that of a university. Now, renaming of some colleges in China have been led very much astray, which have confused the differentiae between both university and college.
