Abstract:This paper is concerned with the structure, hardware and software of a real-time signal processing system for wire rope inspection. It consists of a sensor and a computer-aided signal processing system. The hardware includes an equidistant pulse generator and a magnetic map signal storage. Sampling pulses from the equidistant pulse generator control the A/D board to perform sampling in uniform spatial intervals. They are also used in computer counting to locate each inspecting point. The magnetic map signal storage plays the role of buffer store for the real-time processing of signal inspected. The software contains those for the inspection hardware adjustment, parameter measurement and real-time inspection signal analysis. The adjustment of the inspection system, the detecting and analyzing methods of the broken wire signal, and the system performance such as the processing time tolerance and dynamic sensitivity are discussed in detail.
