Abstract:The inbred wistar rats were given freely distilled water containing 33mg/LN-methyl-N-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine(MNNG)for 281 days.No gastnc cancer was.de-tected in thase animals which were fed simulteneously with any dosage of garlic,99 g/kg BWwab the lowest accumulative dosage.Cancer were induced in 26.32 % of the animals(5/19)fedwitbout garlic.All the gastric caners found were tubular adenocareinoma located in the lowerthird of giands within pyloric area and the pyloric antrum of the curvatura ventriculi minorwhere the expermental dysplasia occured. So this area was sensit ive zone to MNNG and thedysplasia originated from there should be considered as precancerosis.These careinomas had norelatio n to the focal atrophy chronic gastritis or superficial mucosal erosion,they were not in-hibited by garlic. This work provided the cvidence that garlic protects stomach fromcarcmogenesis.
