英汉隐喻性词汇对比研究

研究结果表明,英汉隐喻性词汇之间存在着诸多异同点,如词汇和理据不同,但喻义和文化内涵相同;词汇、理据和文化内涵不同,但喻义相同;词汇、理据和文化内涵相似,喻义相同;词汇相同,但喻义不同等。导致这些异同的根本原因是英汉两国人民所处的语境不同。

A Contrastive Study of Metaphorical Words in English and Chinese

This paper makes a contrastive study of metaphorical words in English and Chinese. The study shows that between the two languages there are cases with the following similarities and differences: 1) that have the same metaphorical meaning and cultural connotation but different metaphorical words and motivations; 2) that have the same metaphorical meaning but different words, motivations and cultural connotations; 3) that with the same metaphorical meaning and similar words, motivations, and cultural connotations; 4) that with the same words, but different metaphorical meanings. And the ultimate cause is the difference of cultural contexts of the English speaking people and the Chinese.
