| 摘 要： | NPEG是运动图像专家组的简称，其制定的动态图像压缩标准称为NPEG标准，包括MPEG-1、NPEG-2、NPEG-4、MPEG-7和NPEC-21。简要介绍了NPEG的发展历史，各NPEG标准的基本内容、主要技术指标、应用领域以及发展趋势。因为NPEG-4标准是基于内容的压缩标准，与以前的压缩标准有所不同，因此特别讨论了MPEG-4的一些关键技术和当前研究热点及发展趋势。

| Abstract: | MPEG is the shortened form of moving picture experts group, the standard established by MPEG is usually named as the MPEG standard including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MPEG-7 and MPEG-21, which play an important role in the multimedia communication and digital television. The basic knowledge of MPEG, including its history, technical indices, applications and future development, is introduced. The standard of MPEG-4 is specially discussed since it is a standard based on content and is different from the previous compression standard. The key points and current situation are also discussed. |
