Interaction between the Government and the Market in the Economic Development of Four ASEAN Countries and Its Enlightenment

Governmental intervention has had positive effect on the economic growth of four ASEAN countries, i.e. Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. Government-dominated market economic system is characterized by authoritative political systems, governmental intervention in market within the framework of market economy, and the positive interaction between the government and the market. All these have laid the foundation for the rapid and steady growth of the above four ASEAN countries. Analysis of the characteristics and patterns of governmental intervention in these four countries are enlightening to the economic development of China which is now under economic transformation.
