| Abstract: | Editor's Note This paper,conducted by Captain James S.C.Chao,is a case study prepared for a seminar given to The Delegation from China State Shipbuilding Corporation on October 7,1993.The seminar was sponsored by St.John's University(New York).Thirty-one members of the Delegation of CSSC were from differentShipyards,Trading Companies,Research institutes etc.and participated in the seminar.The author's mentioned the movement of technology,specially the movement of the production center for shipping and shipbuilding industries.The challenge as managers is to study the variables involved-innovation,the quality of management, the skills of labour,and the availability of capital.As an example,the cause of rise and decline of the United States shipping and shipbuilding industries was analysed. |
