On Augustine＇s Theoretical Dilemmas and the Reasons

Abstract： In Augustine＇s Christian thought, there are many theoretical contradictions and dilemmas： about the theory of original sin, Augustine attributed it to human＇s pride, and this conflicted with ＂human＇s sociality＂ stressed by him; about the grace of God, Augustine＇s Monergist theory caused a predestination on the issue of atonement, thus resulting in a contradiction between theory and reality; about the free will, Augustine＇s former theory of free will was inconsistent with the latter, and consequently he was in trouble when he wanted to maintain God＇s supreme good and absolute authority. And the reason for these contradictions and dilemmas is that Augustine rigidly stressed the perfection of God, because he adhered to the idea that belief precedes understanding in Christian thought.
