| Abstract: | Based on the well-known equal area criterion the normalized transient stability reserve of each generator in the system has been defined in this paper. Two methods have been proposed for off- line predication of the maximum potential energy region of the critical generator. Under two assumptioms made in the paper, an approach has been proposed to calculate the transient energy at the instant of fault clearing by the locally available variables. Thus, the generator's normallized transient stability reserve can be obtained by its locally available variables from on-line measurements. |
