北宋中后期保甲乡兵的兴废

保甲乡兵是北宋中后期乡兵中十分重要的一种,也是王安石变法中军事改革的重要举措。自神宗熙宁年间保甲法施行后,北方的征籍制乡兵大多并入保甲。保甲乡兵是保甲中定期教阅、番上的部分,朝廷对之亦寄予厚望。但是,保甲乡兵在军事活动中的表现却令人失望。神宗死后,变法废弛,保甲乡兵的教阅陷于停顿。之后的哲宗、徽宗、钦宗等朝虽然都曾试图恢复保甲乡兵,但由于保甲制度本身的缺陷,其最终随着北宋政权的覆灭而消亡。
