Cladistic Classification and Geographical Distribution of Chinese Stenodema(Hemiptera: Miridae)

The present paper is a detailed study on the genus Stenodema of China. Twenty species of the genus are classified into five species-groups based on external morphological characters, the phylogeny of which is cladistic-analysised. Hennig's method is used for constructing the cladogram. Meanwhile, Farris-Wagner algorithm is also applied. Both struc-tures of these two separate formulated cladograms are completely congruent with each other. In this article the geographical distribution of the genus Stenodema in China is also discussed. The author is of the opinion that the genus Stenodema has its center of specific differentiation in the southwestern mountainous part of China, i. e., from the southwest of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau to northwest Sichuan.
