| Abstract: | Urban disasters cause serious destruction and are very harmful, and show a tendency to increase in number and become intensified in recent years. On the basis of analysing urban disasters in Sichuan province, the author holds that the geomorphological environment has much to do with the mechanism, the processes and distribution of the urban disasters. In Sichuan, main types of urban disasters are floods in plain-cities, floods and slope in'stability in hill-cities and slope instability, mud-rock flows and floods in mountain-cities. The study of environmental geomorphology on urban disasters is an important content of a systematic research on urban disasters. |
