Fur costume has a long history, and was once one of the most important kinds of costume in China. It was a significant component part of ritual costume system of ancient China as well as cultural symbol of ethnical groups in northern China.This paper discusses the different types and names of animals whose skin were used as fur, the ways of treatment and preservation of fur, the types of fur costume and combinations with other costumes, as well as the aesthetic judgment of fur fashion .
