《白鲸》的“白鲸”宗教思考——基于麦尔维尔生活经历、社会与宗教历史和圣经故事的分析

通过分析麦尔维尔的生活经历、美国社会的捕鲸史实、19世纪上半叶美国的宗教历史以及《圣经》中关于鲸的故事,可以看出,不管是从自然环境、社会环境,还是宗教环境、宗教特性,作为当时最大的海洋生物,鲸成为麦尔维尔的选择对象来表现其宗教思考是最适宜的。

Religious Thinking on the "White Whale"

Through the analysis of Melville’s life experience,the whaling historical facts of the United States,the religious history of the 19th century American and the whale story of Bible,we can see that no matter from the natural environment,social environment or the religious environment,the religious characteristic,as the biggest ocean creatures,it is the most appropriate that whale becomes Melville’s selection to express their religious thinking.
