There are many similarities between Hemingway's Farewell to Arms and Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago.Though Henry is an optimistic American and Zhivago is a melancholy Russian,they were both telling stories of war and the two heroes were both far from the cruel war,trying to find spiritual support and a final settling place in love.Their persistant struggle against reality and their insistence to their belief in their heart, expresses the permanent spirit of exploration of mankind.
