| Abstract: | Cheng Yi,a scholar of the Song Dynasty,declared that Confucius often takes a condescending attitude in teaching while Mencius often takes a lofty attitude in teaching.But he did not give further explanations.On the other hand,Cheng Yi also said that later people regarded Confucius as being lofty.Since a trace of teaching for lofty goals have been detected so far in our country,it is of great necessity to make a comparison of Confucius and Mencius' teaching value orientation based on the historical records. |
